Mission

We love music
And we want to listen to music exactly as it was created.

Music is the essence of human emotion. And to most of us it is more powerful than the spoken word in expressing love, anger, spirited passion and strong devotion. It is the first and foremost language for feelings. Speech is for the intellect, music is from the heart.

This is why music matters so much to you. It evokes feelings, brings back memories and it makes you want to kiss your loved one. Music is the very essence of your passion and your life.

We all love music. Therefore, our mission is to re-play music exactly as it was recorded. To create music systems that can preserve and present the full dimension of passion in any kind of music.

This has never been possible before due to the limitations of traditional audio systems. That is why "reproduction of music"has become a universal phrase in the hi-fi world. Even the most expensive audio systems affect the colour, the timbre, the immaculate and invaluable emotion of the music. It has been changed and is no longer original. Thus the expression "re-production of music", which actually means copying. Traditional audio systems inevitably add their own "flavour". But the original passion in music cannot be "re-produced".

We do not re-produce music. We re-play music with all the passion intact. Nothing added - nothing removed. Our music systems are simply the best to recreate the original musical event exactly as it was recorded. Why? Because our technology is superior. No one has more experience in cutting-edge digital audio than Lyngdorf. Our "crew" counts the best audio designers in the world. If in doubt - just listen. And you will be convinced.

Musicians play music as always. Now you can re-play music exactly as it was created. Think about that! Isn't that what everybody has been trying to achieve since hifi was born? Come join the re-play revolution! The Lyngdorf revolution. Welcome!

History

Lyngdorf - the history of audio revolution
History is made by individuals and innovators. Creative people capable of changing society and the way we think and act.

Peter LyngdorfInnovation has always been a hallmark for Peter Lyngdorf. Ever since his entry into the hi-fi industry in mid 1970's he has been capable of changing how audio products are being conceived and sold - both globally and in his native Scandinavia. In a constant pursue of better ways to replay music Peter has founded or co-founded several world famous audio companies, for instance Dali Loudspeakers along with full or part ownership of many other highly esteemed audio brands such as NAD Electronics, Gryphon Audio and Snell Acoustics.

Lyngdorf personnelPeter Lyngdorf is also the founder and owner of Hi-Fi Klubben which is Europe's largest and most successful chain of shops specialized in high-end audio. Founded in 1980 Hi-Fi Klubben today covers all of Scandinavia with 70 shops and is still expanding.

Naturally, being in close contact with end consumers and market demands has proved invaluable for acquiring inspiration for new products and feedback for making them perfect during development. No doubt the overall success of Peter Lyngdorf is closely related to his ongoing retail experience with consumer needs and ideas.

In the 1990's Peter was presented to the ideas of digital room correction and digital amplification. These were the logical next steps to the digital revolution of the 1980'es where the CD was introduced and took the world by storm. The vision of leading digital audio into its full implementation as a complete re-play system and not only a sound carrier system was of course intriguing.

This interest led to the foundation of Tact Audio ApS, a high technology company focused on digital audio. This is today named Lyngdorf Audio and is based in Skive, Denmark. We employ more than 40 highly trained acoustical and electronic engineers which mean that we have the largest research and development team for any digital hi-fi company in the World.

The Millennium milestone
Applying digital technology to amplification and room correction has changed the face of the audio world. In 1998 Peter Lyngdorf introduced the Millennium, the World's first truly digital amplifier that far superseded all other amplifiers available at that time and presented a giant leap forward for audio mankind.

Lyngdorf Millennium Mk IV

The Millennium was the first real breakthrough in amplifier technology since the introduction of the transistor in 1948. The first change of paradigm for more than 50 years! What had so far been impossible to make for even the largest and most resourceful companies in the global audio industry was made possible by a small Danish Lyngdorf company.

Today, the Millennium is a true legend and one very much alive as it is in its fourth reincarnation and has been constantly developed since the introduction. Even today the Lyngdorf Millennium MKIV maintains pole position as the best sounding stereo amplifier in the World. It is an ongoing revolution.

The revolutionary Millennium experience has led to the development of a full range of Lyngdorf digital amplifiers that offers state-of-the-art music replay at almost every price point.

Clean up your room!
Digital room correction is perhaps even more innovative and revolutionary than true digital amplification as it is impossible to perform anything like it with analog-only technology. It is a fully automated full-frequency room acoustics measuring and correction process. Many years of intensive research and costly development of several systems led finally to the RoomPerfect solution.
Lyngdorf RoomPerfect
RoomPerfect is vastly superior to any other correction system in the World because of the three-dimensional measuring system and unique target response calculation. You will be able to achieve perfect music replay and not only in one narrow position but all over your listening room.

Room-friendly loudspeakers
Peter Lyngdorf had been working intensively with professional audio systems from the 1970's and personally designed his first commercial hi-fi speaker systems already in 1982. He has always had a preference for real-life dynamics and sound scale in music replay which was difficult to find in ordinary speakers - especially so in ordinary listening rooms.

Breaking new grounds with digital technology Peter could hear (and literally see on-screen) the limitations of traditional speaker systems. He could also see the many new opportunities digital technology could offer an experienced loudspeaker designer if only he dared breaking away from traditional thinking.

What he did was to think out of the box - literally. The first truly digital-ready loudspeaker system conceived by Peter Lyngdorf was introduced in 2002 and based on completely new principles that turned traditional inside-the-box thinking upside down - or rather inside-out. In a stroke of genius he took the main enemy of perfect music replay - room acoustics - and turned it into an advantage. As all ideas of genius it was simple: Instead of trying to fight room reflections you should make use of them!

The BassDirect speakers developed by Peter Lyngdorf were designed to be placed in a corner where the three boundaries - two walls and the floor - ensure that you get maximum air load impedance and thus 6-9 dB higher efficiency than typical for traditional subwoofers.

And we have many more ground breaking projects coming your way.

Core Competences

RoomPerfect
Your may be the master of your home but you are a slave to room acoustics. The listening room has a huge impact on the final quality of music replay. Once your precious audio system has transformed the electrical signal into audible sound waves you are no longer in control and the music you hear is subject to the strict physical laws of acoustics.

BassDirect
When loudspeakers are placed in a room the distances between the loudspeakers and the side and back walls have a huge influence on the sound – especially in the lower frequency range.
